Master Sword: Skyward Sword cosplay

The completed Master Sword that was used in our Skyward Sword cosplay.

Handle: curved part was made out of a small metal lampshade, the wings were made out of cardboard cutouts stuck together with masking tape + hot glue. A thinner cardboard was cut into lots of little pieces, each piece was bent down the middle (in a similar way to how the silver 'S' and 'Z' bits on the shield were done). This was then painted purple. Golden gems and detail was made out of golden coloured card, bent and cut to shape. The actual handle part is a thin wooden rod, hot-glued to the 'blade'. The tip on the handle: a ring of blu-tack was stuck around the bottom of a bottle cap, then a small piece of cardboard was rolled up and stuck on top of the bottle cap with a lot of masking tape. This was also painted purple. Green plastic rafia was wrapped around the handle and glued in place.

Blade: it was carved to the right shape out of a rectangular piece of light wood. The wood was then sanded down, then spray-painted silver and glued to the handle. Triforces were also done on both sides: they were cut out of silver-coloured card and hot-glued to the blade.
